When my husband and I moved to the south, we learned about something we had only briefly experienced before.
- That new something was that of humidity.
I never realized how much humidity affected everything. It even changed my hair! What I did not realize initially, though, is how humidity can affect how the temperature feels inside your home. When we moved into our new home, we knew the HVAC was fine from our inspection. Our house still felt very warm all the time. We wondered if some problem had developed with our HVAC or if maybe we just were not used to the heat for this area of the country. Finally, a friend of ours suggested installing a whole-house dehumidifier to control the humidity in our home. I had no idea at the time how much of a difference this would make with our home temperature. I had never even heard of people installing dehumidifiers as a part of the home’s HVAC system. Our friend helped us find a great HVAC company, and we made the decision to install the whole-house dehumidifier. It was amazing how much different the temperature quality was so soon after installation. We immediately felt cooler. Not only did we feel cooler, but my husband’s allergies seemed to get better. On the very hot days, we could tell a huge difference in how our house felt. For temperature control and comfort, this was one of the best decisions we could have made. I now suggest to anyone moving to the south to seriously consider installing a dehumidifier.
