This past week, some wonderful friends of our family had invited my wife and I over for dinner and a few drinks! All of us have celebrations a couple weekends a month and play games or watch films and sports games, and this has been a long time recurring thing for the group of us, and my wife and I constantly have a fun time with them. During the winter season, it can get pretty chilly where both of us live, so planning things to do inside with our friends is always the main focus. All of us live in the same neighborhood in an older part of town, so the houses have an antique charm to them–and given the age of their house, our friends had to have their gas furnace upgraded earlier this year before all of the winter weather set in. Their old time gas furnace had been pretty reliable for over a decade, but earlier this year when they had their HVAC repairman out to service their system, the furnace just wouldn’t light. No matter what they did or tried, they couldn’t get it to fire up. The pilot light would stay lit at first, but there was no gas flow to the burners so our friends decided it was finally time to get a brand new propane furnace, and had it installed just a few weeks ago. I can’t believe how good their timing was with being proactive on replacing the furnace because within days after they upgraded it, we all got an unexpected chilly snap that brought the temperatures down into the forties during the morning and afternoon, and almost freezing at night. It was obvious that winter time was here early, and thankfully our dear friends will be able to keep sizzling and cozy through the cold winter.
