It only takes a series of simple tasks to maintain your air conditioner and to keep it working well. If you perform preventive maintenance on your HVAC system, it will work better for you in the long run. Or are you one of those people that keeps the same A/C filter in your HVAC system, believing that it will somehow magically replace itself? If you are of the latter group, you may find yourself undergoing an expensive air conditioning repair appointment. The disappointing fact is that with just a few HVAC maintenance tips followed by you, and performed regularly, you may be able to eliminate that expensive HVAC visit. If your heating and cooling equipment is maintained regularly by yourself and with the aid of an HVAC professional, it will last longer and it will work better while it is lasting longer. Not only does the air filter need to be changed on a regular basis, but the outside HVAC unit needs some TLC as well. Don’t forget to monitor that outside unit to ensure that no weeds have grown too close to the HVAC equipment. Go ahead and rinse off the coils while you’re checking it. It could use a bath, at times. Be sure and trim any tree limbs away from the A/C unit, and maybe even consider placing a small protective fence around it. But don’t make it too small, since that HVAC technician will need access to that unit, especially if you don’t change that A/C filter on occasion. But call your local heating and cooling provider for an HVAC tune-up, you’ll be glad you did.
