Change your air filter

One of the worst mistakes you can make as an adult is letting your home’s integrity fall to the wayside. At the ripe old age of twenty-nine, I’ve watched several friends make mistakes with their homeownership that varied from poor to awful. They’re almost always due to forgetting about the little things they can do to improve their home, like switching out the air filters every month, or cleaning the ventilation duct registers to improve indoor air quality. Thankfully, I learn from observation – meaning, I don’t have to ignore the “change your air filter” demand every HVAC technician throws at you. My friends, however, seem content with learning through trial and error – mostly error, as they’ve had severe breakdowns involving their furnace or air conditioning unit over forgetting to replace the air filter! That’s why I decided to go with a room air conditioner for my condo. It doesn’t usually get hot enough in my town to justify a heavy-hitting central air conditioning system, as the room air conditioner installed in my living room does more than enough to cool down the entire first floor of the condo. Plus, I have ceiling fans in almost every room that help circulate the cool air around the apartment, and that also helps to keep my energy bills down. The best part is, my air quality is excellent all year ‘round thanks to the air purification system installed alongside my room air conditioner. As the room air conditioner cycles on, the circulated air passes through the air purifier and is swept clean of airborne bacteria and other germs. Together, they ensure the air I breathe is clean and fresh!
