My best friend is building her dream house. It seems amazing that she can actually choose every detail of the house so that it will be exactly what they want it to be. She came to me and my husband to figure out what kind of heating and cooling would be best for her home because my husband is a certified HVAC technician. We also just had a new heating unit of our own installed. I told my friend all about our new heating and cooling technology. We have a split duct system so that each one of our bedrooms can be kept at our own temperature preference. We also are able to heat only the rooms that we use. For example, I don’t keep the heat as high in the guest bedroom when it is not in use. This helps us to not use heat and energy that we do not need, so our utility bills are lower. Not to mention, everyone is comfortable and happy. However, since my friend is getting the entire house built, it might be a good idea to also consider radiant heated floors. I was very interested in getting radiant floors in my own home but the installation requires going underneath the floor. We didn’t want to go through all of that preparation and the cost of destroying and replacing our floors. Since they are already building their floors, it would be perfect timing to install the radiant flooring underneath. The only issue is that there is not a cooling method to pair with the radiant heated floors. She’ll have to decide which method fits her personal needs more, but they are both reliable!
