Ever since I was a young teen I have always had a problem admitting to when I needed help.
As you might expect this has gotten me into a good amount of problems over the course of my life, and no matter how hard I have tried to change this behavior it has followed me all the way into adulthood. At my job it feels nearly impossible for me to ask my coworkers to help me out on a project, I never want to ask my wife to take care of the daily animal chores, and worst of all, I never reach out to professionals to keep the house maintained. This just came to bite me in the backside the other day when I decided to perform the annual service check on my HVAC system instead of bringing in a professional. I had little to no idea what I was doing, which led to me doing more harm than actual good to my ppor HVAC system. After another week went by without my HVAC system showing any signs of life I finally decided to reach out for help and had an HVAC service tech come out to help. Apparently during my service check I had damaged some of the key components within the HVAC system, which led to the problems that I had been having. Fortunately for me the problem was able to be fixed for far less than I was expecting which helped lessen my shame. Since I ended up getting out of this problem with only a small fee I will now try to learn from my mistakes and finally get over my fear of letting others help me from time to time.
