Growing up in warm and humid climate

Having grown up in a warm and humid climate, I had never seen snow in my life until last winter. I decided to take a trip up north to enjoy a white Christmas, and it was not one of the best vacations I’ve ever taken! I wasn’t sure if I would be able to keep warm in cold, snowy weather, so I bought three different kinds of jackets and two pairs of gloves to take with me. All of these jackets and gloves could not keep me from shivering and being chilled to the bone. There was no place outside to keep warm, the wind was creeping down every road and alleyway. I tried to keep warm by running in and out of stores, but none of them seemed to be running their heaters. I could not wait to make it back to my hotel room and just sit there with the heater running full blast to thaw me out. Once I finally made it back to my room, I turned the heater on and hopped into a nice hot shower. Then I made myself a cup of cocoa and climbed under the blankets, and spent the rest of that vacation sitting in the hotel room enjoying the heater running non-stop. When that vacation was finally over, I got back to my own house to summer-like temperatures and a broken air conditioner. I had to call an HVAC technician who could make an emergency house call to repair my unit, because it was impossible to be comfortable without the icy, cooling blast of the air conditioner. It was hard for me to believe I had just spent four days wishing to be warm, and now I was back at home and desperate to have my air conditioner running!
