I moved down south about 7 years ago to get away from the horrible Winters up North. It seemed as if the Winters were getting worse and as I was getting older, my bones couldn’t take the cold anymore. I also knew wouldn’t be missing the high electric bills due to running my heating system to exhaustion. Well, I must say I was so wrong. When I planned this move, I wasn’t thinking about what I was getting into, just what I was leaving behind. When I got to my new apartment I reveled in the warm beautiful weather we were having at the time. I couldn’t believe I didn’t have to use my heating or cooling system and my wallet felt happier too. As the season went on, however, it started getting cooler… cooler than I really thought would happen down in the South. I ended up turning on my heating system in my apartment on for the first time since living there. It wasn’t my first choice, but I was layered in clothes and blankets barely able to move due to the cold, so on went my heating system. I was in awe of how cold it was at the time. Everyone was bundled up in heavy jackets, sweatshirts, and sweaters rushing around trying to get into the warmth, out of the cold. I could see the local shops were filled with customers trying to get warmth from their heating systems, acting like it was 32 degrees here and it was 50 degrees… but it was like the same cold there was up north. Which totally blew me for a loop.
