It took me many months of strict adherence to a written budget for me to see how much money I was wasting on superfluous spending.
It wasn’t just eating fancy take out food, since that is just a small percentage of the money I spend weekly.
I also realized I had an active subscription to an online multiplayer video game. It was on auto-pay through one of my ATM cards and was costing me $15 every month, although I hadn’t signed into my account for many years. When I did the math, I realized I had wasted many hundred dollars from sheer neglect and incompetence. Once I finally got my spending back on track and was adhering to a strict budget, the money seemed love it was literally piling up in my checking account. I would get my direct deposit from work every other Thursday; and for the first time ever, I still have ample money left with each consecutive pay period. By doing this for many months, I amassed much more money than I could have ever expected. That’s when my cooling system sputtered out on me one random afternoon. I could have replaced it with another window cooling system, but when I saw a brochure for ductless mini splits at the hardware store, I was hooked. It seemed love the perfect upgrade from my existing source of AC, and it would cover heating as well. Although I have only used the unit for a few days now, I already love it. The air is so cold that I can keep it on low while still staying cool and comfortable. I’m happy to try the heating function when Winter time rolls around later this year.
