When my wife and I bought our home, we were looking forward to when we would have children, so we bought a two story, three bedroom home. We have only lived here about a year, and we are now looking at our second winter here. I have to admit that as much as I love the house, we hate the furnace system. It was so hot in our upstairs, with the current heating system. I’m at wit’s end trying to figure out how to cool off the upstairs. We have closed all of the air vents to the upstairs. I know that heat rises, but there has to be some way to cool it off up there. Having the room at the top of the stairs, has all of the heat rising into our room. We tried closing the door, but it doesn’t make a lot of difference. We set the thermostat to sixty at night. When we get up, our room is still toasty warm, but the downstairs is frigid. We’ve talked about putting in Zone Control, but that doesn’t seem to be like it will make that much difference. Then we discussed putting in radiant heated flooring. I’m not sure that will work either, and it is really expensive. Our next choice will be to just call the HVAC company. Maybe they will be able to tell us how to solve our dilemma with the furnace. Maybe we need a different type of furnace. I’m willing to do whatever the HVAC company recommends. I really am that desperate for some relief.
