We were tripping in the mountains & decided to go on some tours of historical landmarks. I have always enjoyed studying about history by undoubtedly seeing it & none of these places disappointed us, however because both of us were in the New England area there were big mansions that were owned by the wealthy settlers that travelled from various European countries. Now, even though multiple of these people were responsible for the creation of our superb country, they really had some laughbable “technology”, if you could call it that. Today, both of us control our house environment with the flip of a switch, by way of remote, or even a constant programmable method that ensures the perfect air quality year round. Back then, they needed to rely on fireplaces that they would burn at odd levels, open & close windows constantly, & set up big fans to try & stay comfortable. There were thermometers on the wall in multiple rooms for people to read to see what the temperature was. I suppose they were lucky to have house servants to check these all the time & do what they needed to do to ensure their managers comfort. It would be a full time work just to keep the fireplaces lit all morning & cleaned out as well while in the Winters way up north. Although I appreciate studying about history I don’t suppose I would have wanted to live back then. I am entirely comfortable with our current conveniences & mostly our Heating, Ventilation, & A/C system. I guess that our house is always perfectly warmed in the Winter & cooled in the summertime. I always make sure to have the method serviced on a familiar basis to ensure that I don’t have to rely on our fireplace for warmth on a freezing Winter night.
