I am fortunate to be able to work from home. I set my own hours, and often work in the evenings. I typically dress in my pajamas, sip hot tea and blast my spotify. However, I also put in very long hours and need to be as productive possible. I can’t afford a bunch of distractions. Because of this, I invested quite a bit of money into an ergonomic swivel chair and a large, sturdy desk. I have a state-of-the-art desktop computer with a giant monitor and Bose sound system. When I first set up my home office, I was sure I’d thought of everything. It didn’t occur to me that I’d be heating and cooling the entire house to the ideal temperature. With only one thermostat, I had no choice but to keep every room the same temperature as my office. Those empty rooms were costing me a fortune in energy bills. Plus, if I wanted to make a change to the temperature setting, I needed to leave my desk, walk into the living room and adjust the thermostat manually. I finally hired a local HVAC contractor to provide some help, He suggested that I upgrade my HVAC system to zone control and a series of smart thermostats. The process was simple, definitely cost-effective and totally worthwhile. I can now regulate temperature independently in every room. During the workday, I only maintain my office to the perfect comfort level, which saves me a tremendous amount of money. I have access to all features of the heating and cooling system through an app on my smartphone.
