My friends and I decided to take a long road trip to celebrate after we graduated from high school. We drove all the way to the west coast, and visited many scenic areas along the way. My favorite spot, out of all the places we visited, was the desert. It was my number one favorite because it was hot, dry and absolutely beautiful, all at the same time. The only concern with being there was the fact that the A/C in our car broke down when we actually made it to the desert. We were forced to drive through the desert without cool air in the car. The timing could not have been worse. We kept the windows down, but that made it hard to hear each other talk. Finally, after we got tired of the uncomfortable conditions, we decided to stop and get the air conditioner fixed at an auto repair shop. The repairman said that it would take a few hours, so we waited at a local diner. The food was delicious, but the best part was that we we soaking in the cool air while we ate very slowly. I don’t think I’ve ever put as much thought into how much an A/C really matters until we didn’t have one in the hot desert. When we finally got the A/C fixed, we were back on the road heading to our next stop at the Grand Canyon. There, all of us soaked in the scenes, and had the best time of our lives. I’ll never forget that experience as long as I live. It was a fun trip even with the A/C issue. I don’t think I could live in such a hot climate in the desert, but it sure was a nice change of pace for a while.
