Living in a small apartment has perks, depending on who you are. I don’t mind the size of it because it has everything I need! With plenty of storage throughout the apartment, it has tons of fancy new appliances and hardwood floors to boot. I also have a beautiful view of the cascading mountains from my home window! Perhaps the best part of the apartment is that I have a washer and dryer right in my unit, which is awesome! I’m lucky to have this, as many people do not have such a luxury. Most people have to go into the basement to do laundry, or visit laundromats. The only downfall of this is that the dryer heats up my home faster than all get-up! It makes me a little too hot sometimes, even on cold days. When the dryer has been running for an hour, it gets so sizzling in the apartment that I open up the windows in the winter. When I am preparing to use the dryer, I turn off the heating system altogether – I won’t need it! I also open up some windows, and let the hot air out. I have mentioned this to the landlord before, but he said that it is because of awful ventilation in the apartment’s construction. My unit wasn’t built with excellent ventilation, sadly. He said my only fix would be to remove the dryer, but where’s the sense in that? I don’t want to give that up! Instead, I try to time my laundry for when I am leaving for work. If I turn my dryer on when I am running out the door, by the time I return home my laundry is done and my cabin has returned to a cool temperature. Now that’s how you cope!
