I spent more money than I should

I am not a luxurious person: by that I mean I don’t have a lot of indulgences. I rarely go out to eat, usually making meals at the rental lake house to save cash. Though when I do go out, I will usually go anywhere cheap, normally a drive through. I have never once in my life owned a new car, only ones that I buy previously owned. Any part of life where I find I can save a few bucks, I consistently do. This is partially because of how I was raised. However I am also trying to squirrel some cash away to eventually be able to buy a lake home of my own. Yet the one bit of my life I don’t make sacrifices with is my air conditioning system. Keeping my rental lake house well air conditioned at all times is the one indulgence I do allow myself. The cooling air is a welcome respite after a long afternoon spent working in the hot sun–it provides a needed bit of rest for me. I would care about to have lower energy bills. When the day comes that I do get a home of my own I will make sure it has the most energy efficient oil furnace and central air conditioning plan available. For now, buying a new air conditioning system would take all of my savings, so I am pleased to use the one I have. I did the math; it turns out no matter how much I reduce my AC usage, I would still only save twenty or thirty dollars a week. I guess it is worth it to pay that little bit extra to keep myself cool, comfortable, and air conditioned all summer long.
