I keep our control equipment set for 76 degrees all Summer yet, there are instances when the lake house feels a bit warmer or a tad cooler than other days! It appears to depend on the humidity outside. But the more humid it becomes outside, the hotter it seems inside. At first, I thought it just felt hotter, but is not absolutely hotter. But, then I started walking around our lake house with a temperature gun. The temperature gun is a tool that is absolutely accurate for determining temperatures in recognizable spots. I primarily use the temperature gun to make sure our reptiles have correctly heated basking spots. Anyway, I go about the lake house with this temperature gun on one of the days the control dial states 76 degrees but it feels warmer. Plus, you believe what happened? The temperature gun said it was 80 degrees through the house. I do this again on the day when it feels colder than just 76 degrees in the lake house. The temperature gun says it is 76 degrees. I do this several more times and I find that our control equipment is absolutely a bit off. It is actually only off by about 2 degrees though. It is not one of those control units where it only kicks on after reaching a couple of degrees above or below a target temperature either. Also, the temperatures don’t really fluctuate throughout the day. It is nearly as if the control equipment believes it’s 76 or 80 degrees is really 75 degrees. It might be time for a call to an a/c specialist to come out to have a look. Might need a modern control unit.
