I have three settings on the thermostat that I use during the summer. One is down to seventy when I am getting ready to sleep at night. Being cold at night really helps me sleep a lot better. When I am home during the day, I have the air set to the mid-seventies. It’s usually not too hot or too cold for me. When I leave my house and the weather is warm, I like to turn my thermostat up to the high seventies, and sometimes all the way up to eighty. That way the air isn’t constantly blowing in a futile attempt to keep my apartment cool while I am not even there. When I come back home, there are days where I don’t touch the thermostat until I go to bed, because I’m so content in a warm apartment. There was one day, however, where this didn’t last very long. I was sitting on the couch watching a movie when I realized I was actually getting very hot. I paused the movie and walked over to the thermostat, turning it down to my usual at-home temperature. The HVAC unit started up, and I walked back over to the couch to continue watching the film. It wasn’t even five minutes later when I was suddenly freezing! Maybe it was the fact that the vent was blowing right on me, but I had to grab a throw blanket and throw it over my legs almost immediately. I couldn’t believe myself, and I had to laugh. I had just been way too hot no less than ten minutes ago, and I was cold in a matter of minutes. It’s a good thing I have sweatpants and throw blankets!
