When someone asked me how long I have been married, I answer them and say “thirty four years”. Many times I get a strange look because this can be a rarity these days. I have to admit though, it doesn’t seem that long to me. My husband and I got married very young and although we have been together so long, I still feel like it was yesterday. This happens in many areas of our lives. We have lived in the same house for over twenty five years and when we first bought it, we did a major remodel. I still find myself telling people we just put in all new windows, but that was twenty two years ago. When they say that life happens in the Blink of an eye, it really does. This topic came up the other day when I asked my husband if we should consider upgrading our boiler. We put in the one we have now when we bought the house and aside from once, we have never really done any maintenance on it. The idea that we never pay any attention to our heat source is a bit strange. He insists that there is no need to do anything but I am very sure that we could put one in that is far more efficient now. Modern technology has improved so much that we could save significantly on our annual cost. Yes, there would be an investment in the new equipment, but, over time it would pay for itself with lower utility bills. I hope my husband agrees to at least have a technician come to the house and give us our options.
