Instituting a corporate wellness plan

Right after college, I was fortunate enough to get a job in my chosen field.

In order to get ahead, I spend a lot of time at work.

My job is demanding and stressful, and yet it keeps me sitting in a chair, staring a computer for very long hours. After three years of such a sedentary lifestyle, I started to have some health issues. I’d put on over ten extra pounds and my joints ached. I had pain in my hips, shoulders, elbows and wrists. My neck and back often bothered me, and I suffered from frequent headaches. I didn’t feel good and wasn’t happy with my appearance. This led to depression and affected my productivity at work. During a lunch break, I listened to my coworkers voice similar problems and complaints. I realized that I needed to do something about it. I did some research and came across a corporate wellness program offered by a personal trainer. I did further checking and found some amazing results for companies that offered corporate wellness programs. They noticed a significant increase in productivity and reduction in employee turnover and absenteeism. I took this information to my boss, who gave me the go-ahead to setup the program. I contacted a local personal trainer, worked out the details and offered a sign-up sheet to my coworkers. The response was so overwhelming that we immediately needed to expand the training sessions. The personal trainer is now offering corporate wellness classes every morning before work, during the lunch hour and at the end of the day.
