Ions for days

When you’re talking about old cliches that don’t mean much to anybody anymore, it becomes easy to find examples of opposing forces adding up for the greater good.

You know, there is yin and yang, there is dark and night, and of course there is the good old male and female.

But, I have another one to add to the list. I recommend both of us add ions and their opposite, cations, to the “great opposites list”. Let’s add one for us nerds who often come up short in the cliche department. Ions are simply particles that have a negative total charge and cations are particles that have a positive total charge. It turns out that ions, just the same as nerds, are affectionately starved and become attracted to anything with a positive charge to mate with its opposing charge! But the ways that some people who regularly choose the wrong lover, ions often cannot find a “nice cation next door” to properly settle down with. Instead, they look for cations in the murky world of airborne pollution, toxic chemicals, pollen, mold, pet dander, and many other harmful chemicals contained in the air which are all carrying a positive charge. This is terrible news for the ion as its ultimate fate is to be trapped in a dust particle in an Heating, Ventilation & A/C system filter in your air handling machine. But for humans, it cleans the air of all of those particularly “bad characters, thus effectively leaving a room full of fresh air perhaps conducive to your wildly affectionate nerd escapades… Using an ionizer to fill your house with billions of lonely ions along with an Heating, Ventilation & A/C system is essential for great health.
