Issues with the air quality

I have lived on the east coast my whole life and after a lifetime of growing up, going to school, graduating college, and plying my trade for more than a decade it is time for a change. I was recently offered a lucrative position with a firm in my industry on the other side of the country. Basically, I will be moving from coast to coast. It is an exciting time to be sure but also kind of scary. I know I will need to get used to some different ways of life out on the west coast that just doesn’t occur too much here. I guess the people in general always being so nice will be pretty annoying at first. I think that will grow on me though because I generally do like people. The weather will be a big change for me in some ways. Where I live and where I am going both experience summer weather but out there the winters are much milder. I guess that means I will be using the furnace much less than I do now. That is actually pretty cool. I am fine with not having to be cooped up for a few months of the year with the furnace blasting just to stay warm. There is also the issue of air quality with weather like that. The air filter for the HVAC system is way dirtier after a winter full of closed doors and furnace use than in the summer. It will be a nice change to be in warm and sunny weather throughout the year.
