I work for a digital marketing company and the vast majority of our business comes from HVAC.

Seems like the HVAC industry is ready to move into the technology world.

It is an odd combination of new college graduates understanding code, data and web building and older HVAC contractors who don’t own a computer. Getting the HVAC dealers to understand what they are paying for and why they want it is always difficult. Most of the time the HVAC businesses try to make suggestions on how to make a website run better. I don’t tell the HVAC contractor how to service a heat pump or install an air conditioner. They are the expert in their field. I am hopeless when it comes to physical tools. They should respect that it is the reverse with SEO. I know how to write code, build a website and post on social media. I know exactly what colors are eye catching and where the company phone number should be listed. Most of the time when a customer requests a lot of changes, the websites looks terrible and ends up breaking. Then the client sees less phone calls and business decreases. Who do they blame for this disaster? Well they blame me since it is my job to garner traffic to their site. Sometimes the customers are great and let me do what I want. Those websites always run twice as fast and keep customers on the web page longer. It is difficult telling a man twice my age that I know way more than him about SEO and he should back off.
