When it comes to home repairs, I like to think I can do it all. This quality has bitten me in the butt more times than I can count, but I still like to think of myself as Mr. Home Improvement. Honestly, I am pretty good at a lot of different things, but I’m maybe not as good as I like to think I am. When it comes to woodwork, or even plumbing, I can get the job done nine times out of ten. When it comes to more complicated things, like the electrical grid or the solar panels, or the HVAC system, I admit I am pretty lost. That never stops me from trying my hand at being an HVAC technician whenever the situation arises. Even though I have tried and failed miserably at heating and cooling repair many times in the past, hope springs eternal and I always try it again. I have learned a few things over the years, like how to patch up broken or split air ducts. When it comes to changing out a dirty air filter, or unscrewing the grates to wash them off, I am a pro. However when the condenser unit on the air conditioner breaks, or the pilot light for the hot water heater goes out, I am not such a pro. Finally I wised up and got an annual protection plan from a local HVAC contractor, so now I get free system inspections twice a year. Now if there are any HVAC issues I just call the company and they send someone right out.
