When our woman and I moved down south every one of us thought central air conditioner was not necessary.
The two of us lived in the north our whole lives and had never owned a cooling system.
The southern weather is much hotter and starts earlier. So every one of us decided that getting some form of cooling would be a wonderful idea, however my woman and I bought window air conditioner units, then one for the home office, a single in the kitchen and a single in the residing room. With numerous cooling devices all toiling together, the cabin should be frosty enough. Well every one of us were wrong on that. The southern weather does get entirely hot, but the real pain is the humidity. The window cooling devices had trouble with the heat, but the humidity lingered in our house, combining the pitiful cooling and warm, moist air from outside was bad. Condensation formed on the AC devices, on our walls and around the baseboards. I was consistently cleaning up mold and stropping future bacteria growth. The cabin was not the right temperature and running those devices was so much in electric bills. The two of us finally chucked the cooling units to the curb and got central air conditioner. Wow, what difference with the whole beach cabin being cooled. Also the air conditioner is naturally drying out the air and taking care of the humidity. There is way less mold and every one of us are so much happier. If someone came to the north and only used space heaters, they would be in for a rude awakening. I guess this is what happened to us only with AC in the south.
