Our ductwork is gutted

My parents sadly died a few years back. They left the home to me, and I have been renting it out for the past few years. I have my own place and live in another state. It made sense to rent the house, until I could figure out if I wanted to sell it or keep it. The rental tenants moved out last week, and we had decided to make a visit to the property, since the tenants never called about problems, we assumed everything was still in unbelievable good shape. The tenants always paid the rent on time, and we never had any trouble. The morning I arrived, it was raining pretty hard. I took an Uber from the airport, and went directly over to the house; When I walked through the front door, I found the house in complete ruins. The hardwood floors were scratched and marked up. The carpet had many stains everywhere. I could not tell if it was dog urine or tea stains. The whole apartment smelled awful, but my tenants supposedly had only 1 pet, however the whole house smelled like a farm. I gutted the whole location and that still didn’t get rid of the odor. I had to hire a team to seal the ductwork in the house. The bad smell was everywhere, and the ductwork was making the situation worse; Every time the Heating, Ventilation and A/C component came on, the ductwork sent those disgusting smells into the environment. The Heating, Ventilation and A/C repair team completed the ductwork sealing it off a few days ago. I don’t have a clue if this will alleviate the concern altogether, or if this ductwork cleaning repair will need to be performed every year.
