Unless you have lived in an area where you have experienced winter storms that can have you housebound for days, you probably don’t consider the importance of having all of your appliances maintained on a regular basis. We often forget about the need of maintenance for our generators and emergency lighting. Who can honestly say that they have hurricanes, or blizzards coming at them once a week, that leave you without light or HVAC for days on end. Living in the north, that happens for about four months a year. You have ice, snow, high winds, and sleet, which can all leave you stranded in the house, or without any power. Imagine three feet of snow, with all roads closed, and your power goes out. It has to be thirty-two degrees to snow. You wouldn’t have any heating. Even if you have your power, what happens if your HVAC doesn’t work. You can freeze to death is what happens. Your furnace is an important piece of equipment, as is your AC if you live in the south. You wouldn’t think twice about going to the doctor or dentist once a year, so why would you second guess whether to have your furnace or air conditioning maintained once a year. I would much rather know if there is a potential problem with my heating or AC, before it happens, than being surprised by a real problem, when you are in the middle of a raging blizzard, or a heat wave. That’s why I feel it is important to have a regular and maintenance and repair plan in place for your entire heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system.
