Improvisation is a a very useful talent that any adult must possess. While planning for the unexpected is nice & well, plans require factors that are pre-determined. If you’ve happen to been through a single inconvenient ordeal, you should know that you cannot account for every possible scenario! I consistently have a nice laugh when our coworkers – all of which are thorough planners – deal with an exploding situation where their planning all goes to the wayside; that’s when I come in, as well as save the day with my quick thinking as well as resourceful action. For some backstory here, I worked as a purchasing agent for a company that distributes heating, ventilation as well as a/c equipment for all kinds of businesses. However, one day, I came into work as well as found that a truck carrying many deliveries to our official customers (all of which were established heating, ventilation as well as a/c businesses) had crashed off the road! The shipments included components for heating as well as a/c units, entire sections of air ducts that were pre-assembled for the customer, as well as half a dozen ductless multi split systems that were on the way to customers for upgrade! It was a rough situation that not a single person could seem to figure out. Thankfully I knew what to do as I quickly called some of our vendors that deliver products for us to sell, as well as advocated drop-ship orders that would send products directly to the customers from their warehouse. Thankfully, most of our vendors were located in town, so they could send a delivery van with the product out to each customer! Our customers were so blown away by the dedication to shopper service, that I was praised by name for our efforts to quickly diffuse the situation. While sure, all of us took a financial hit, our PR had never been better!
