Plugging gaps plus leaks gave us a cozy house plus saved on HVAC

Being new to residing in the north has not been the easiest thing in the world.

The people are good by plus huge as is the culture. It’s absolutely weird from where I grew up. But, I am finding a lot to love about residing in the good colorless north of this country. It’s the weather that has myself and others all messed up. I have never had to rely so heavily on the HVAC to be warm. And even when the HVAC is cranked up, the house still felt freezing to me. The first winter, I attributed all this to myself and others just being new to the cold. So this year, as well as getting the HVAC diagnosed plus inspected, I did some other stuff. The gas furnace is practically brand new so I felt pretty safe about getting through the Wintertide with it. I did, but, install a wood stove as a back up as we live out a ways. Both of us could be stuck out here if the gas furnace were to fail plus the snow got deep. I also made the effort to find all the sites where I could tighten up our home. Along with replacing all the weather stripping on all the entry doors, I added some insulation to the attic. My neighbor loaned myself and others plus instant read temperature gun. He showed myself and others how to walk around the exterior of our house to check for sites where HVAC was leaking out. I was shocked to find so several spots that were letting the freezing air in plus the sizzling air out. Hopefully, our minute Wintertide will be far more cozy. It has been so far.
