Not very long ago, I was cleaning our household, and I kept smelling this truly obnoxious odor. I had no clue what it was, but I knew I had to get rid of it. I had the refrigerator and the stove moved out, and I had scrubbed behind and under them thoroughly. I cleaned all of the food and utensils cupboards. I even cleaned our pantry, trying to get rid of the odor. I was in the process of hanging our newly laundered curtains, when the oil furnace suddenly turned on. The smell I had been trying to get rid of, was in the HVAC vents. I told my hubby, when he got back from work, about these findings. I had already lifted the HVAC vent and I tried to suck the dirt out with the vacuum cleaner. The smell was now in our vacuum cleaner, but it was also coming from the HVAC duct. He called the Heating plus A/C device business and told them what the two of us were finding. When the Heating plus A/C device maintenance tech arrived the following day, he went to the HVAC vent. He told us that the two of us were smelling stink bugs. Sometimes they find their way into the system of ductwork through tiny holes and cracks, and they seek out the warmth. He assured us he could get rid of the little stinkers, even though he said he had to scrub and seal the HVAC duct. It didn’t take him all that long to do the job, and I was amazed that there wasn’t any mess to scrub up. All of us had rid the household of the foul smell and I was once again cheerful because I didn’t have to scrub any longer.
