Staying connected to each other has always been important to families and friends around the world. People have always found a way to communicate across great distances. From ancient ways, like smoke signals, banners or flags to Morse Code, communication is always needed and we have gotten better and better at it. The internet was an extremely important achievement in communication. There are so many ways to transfer information through text, video or pictures. When trying to research a topic or learn something new, the internet has been immensely helpful. This is how I was able to find out about geothermal heating and cooling systems. Geothermal heating and cooling systems use the steady temperatures found in the earth to supply energy saving warmed and cooled air. The temperature in the ground will stay largely the same as the temperature in the air fluctuates with the seasons. A geothermal system, which usually is comprised of an indoor control unit as well as a buried system of pipes, called an earth loop, and a pump employ the constant temperatures underground to supply a low cost energy saving climate control unit. Unlike traditional heating and cooling systems, geothermal systems do not require burning fossil fuel to generate heat. They function by transferring heat to and from the earth. Usually, electrical power is only needed to operate the fan, compressor and pump. Geothermal HVAC units require minimal repair when installed correctly. The piping structure will actually last for generations and the system emits no greenhouse gas.
