I grew up in the northern Midwest where winters were intense plus the transitive seasons in between were regularly visually distinct.
There was always the frustration of energy costs while in particularly chilly winters, plus multiple of us got by with wood stoves plus fireplaces alongside forced air gas furnaces.
My father had a daily ritual where he’d take an ATV into the forest out back, find a few dead fallen trees to haul back, then cut them up to refill our storage area in the garage. As a family of five, both of us decided to go through a tremendous quantity of firewood, but in the summers plus the times in between, both of us hardly ever had to use a/c. It didn’t matter howboilingit got outside, all the people I knew left their windows open continuously with a few fans running to circulate the natural breeze. This greatly offset the cost of Winter time energy consumption, but the opposite has become the case in my up-to-date weather conditions, then both of us have mild winters down south but the summers are excruciatinglyboilingand humid. If you don’t run the a/c always, the risk of toxic mold raises abruptly. It’s simply the environment down here presenting its own source of difficulties. Now the only time of the year when I can safely leave my windows open is while in the dry Winter time season when temperatures hover in the 50s plus 60s at the coldest. I had to have a full system updatement on my a/c only two years after moving into my up-to-date house. The wear plus tare adds up to years of abuse that multiple in other weather conditionss never encountered with their central a/cs.
