I was in my kitchen last week, working on a client’s edits, when I heard a very bizarre sound; At first I thought it was just different feedback from my headphones, or 1 of the cats running laps again! However, an hour later, I heard it again; That time, I didn’t have my slippers on, so I felt it in my feet! It felt loud. Since my roommates had gone to work for the afternoon, I took off my headphones and listened to my jazz on my speakers. I had a lot of work to do, but I wanted to try and figure out the noise. Minutes later, when the oil furnace kicked on due to the setting sun, I had my answer. The noise started again instantly after; Sure enough, as soon as I went downstairs, the oil boiler made itself heard. The sound itself was pretty deafening; it had a pitch to it that made my ears ring. I don’t know anything about boilers, however there was a card on the side that the property owner or the Heating, Ventilation and A/C company must have been using to keep track of service. The last date of repair was more than two years ago, not only that, the boiler is 36 years old! I texted my roommates then called my property owner ASAP. She tried to tell myself and others that it was on us to repair the Heating, Ventilation and A/C, even though it’s nowhere on the lease. After a long time arguing, my terrible property owner is finally getting the boiler tested on. I’m going to laugh if she has to pay for a new one too.
