The clue to needing an ac filter change

I have a little trick I sort of use to assume when it is time to change the air filter in my central heating and cooling system, and it all comes down to the toilet lid in my bathroom! I assume that sounds a bit goofy, however but because of how it always happens, if the lid of my toilet ends up getting a bunch of dust and dirt on it, then I assume it is time to change the air filter of my central heating and cooling system, but this is because when the air filter is dirty, it starts blowing the dust and dirt in small particles right out of the air vents above the toilet seat.

This was a good way to remind myself to change the air filter of my central heating and cooling system as well.

Before I figured this trick out, I periodically would go a few months or more separate from changing the air filter of my central heating and cooling system. This began causing some problems around my home when it came to sneezing and other allergic reactions to the exhausting air quality, and so in a way, I am thankful for my toilet lid! One morning I went into my bathroom and had noticed that my toilet lid was entirely filthy and I knew something wasn’t right because I had just cleaned it. That was when I figured out it was the air vents blowing dirt and dust and from that morning on, I ended up using this as a sign and reminder to change the air filter in my Heating, Ventilation & A/C system!
