That way, I can ignite a warm fire with the flip of a switch
I don’t get it. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on renovating my home and the heating system it uses to stay warm. I’ve worked with multiple contractors, specialists in the heating and A/C industry, and other folks who know a thing or two about heating and cooling a house. I’ve even taken a few classes myself just on heating principles, and yet, I can’t figure out why my house isn’t as comfortable as it is when the fireplace is being used! I have these wonderful radiant heated floors installed in my home, and they work incredibly well to warm up the house without drying it out. Since the radiant heated floors work from the ground up, they’re very quiet if not even audible. Plus, they cover every square inch of space in the house, so there’s no cold spots! Despite using this heating system, I still find myself preferring the warmth I get from using the fireplace. Is it just because of the comfort that a warm fire can bring to us? Whatever the case may be, I still think I should be replacing this old fireplace, and making it into a gas-lit fireplace instead. That way, I can ignite a warm fire with the flip of a switch. No more backflow of smoke into the house, no more soot – just warm fire coming from the fireplace. Of course, that also means I’d have to get a gas line connected to my home, and that would be quite the expense. Maybe for now, I’ll just deal with this dusty old fireplace.
