You know, I have always thought of myself as a “quiet” person. I talk low, I don’t speak often, and even my footsteps tend to be light as I walk around the house. All of these traits proved invaluable when my son was first born, as he was a very light sleeper and could wake up from just about anything! Something as quiet as a faucet running in the bathroom was loud enough to disturb him, and then I would spend ten minutes rocking him back to sleep. Though I can do just fine to avoid making sounds that would wake him up, I can’t say the same for our heating and air conditioning system! Seriously, I have never heard of an HVAC system so loud that it sounds like a powerline. However, that is just what we have in our quaint small house. I’ve reached out to various heating and air conditioning technicians, contractors and the like, just to see if they can do anything to quiet down the system. Unfortunately, the heating and air conditioning system is loud as a side effect of age more than anything else! At this point, I think I might have to just break down and trade the old heating and air conditioning system for something a bit quieter – and newer. The old HVAC system doesn’t provide the best indoor air quality to begin with, and even the best air filters do nothing to really improve the air quality inside my home. I’m sure my wife would agree that it’s for the best to just get a new HVAC system. Otherwise, I don’t think we’ll be able to keep up our nights without the air conditioning system running to keep us cool!
