I recently had the chance to go to a ski resort with a few friends for the first time ever! It was like a cartoon, as I could see people coming down the mountain on skis and snowboards, and a few people riding sleds as well! I was so excited to go out and ride a snowboard, and I talked our friends’ heads off about it all the way to our lodge at the resort, and when I walked into the lodge, I was in awe of the furnishings, and how incredibly sizzling and cozy warm it was indoors. There was a digital control unit thermostat on the wall, but I couldn’t see any ventilation points for the HVAC duct of the cabin. I dropped my iphone as I was walking around the lodge, and when I reached down to grab it, I noticed heat coming upwards from the ground. I had no idea what was going on, and myself and others there even suspected that there was something burning in the basement of the lodge! One of our friends told myself and others in the lodge to relax, and explained that it was nothing more than a radiant heating flooring system built into the floor. He continued to describe the system to me, saying that it uses boiling water that flows through pipes under the floorboards. The heat spreads through a material between the floorboards and the pipes, and that’s what causes the heat to come up into the lodge! I thought that was awesome, and before long I was picturing going back apartment to have radiant floors installed at our own house. When our friends explained how the resort undoubtedly chose radiant floors due to how cost-efficient they are, I began seriously considering having radiant floors installed at my own very home!
