Two homes and smart HVAC

After about forty years of living up north, my wife and I grew tired of the cold and snow.  We arranged our lives to spend five months of the year down south. We purchased a small condo and decided to put some time and money to fixing it up.  While the two of us like avoiding the freezing temperatures up north in the winter, we were not anticipating the difficulties of keeping up with more than one home.  Handling the lawn care, household duties and many appliances is a bit of a challenge. No matter where we are, I constantly worry about what’s happening at the other house.  I finally invested in a smart temperature control for each one of our homes. This has greatly reduced my stress about having two homes. Through my smartphone, I can always access the temperature control, make adjustments to temperature, and make sure everything is operating like it is supposed to.  In the event of a power outage, temperature change or repair need, I get an immediate alert. The temperature control even notifies my local HVAC business when there’s a problem. I’m able to reduce the workload of the heater up north by maintaining a pretty low temperature while we’re away. If there is serious weather, with temperatures dropping into the low 20s, I can definitely make adjustments to avoid frozen pipes.  Whether we’re on our way south or north, I regulate the temperature control so that we can arrive to ideal comfort. Because of the convenience and cost savings provided by the smart temperature control, I’m now looking into further condo automation technologies for our beach condo. I’d like to install security cameras, automated door locks, and even motion sensors at each property.
