We just don’t get along

Ever since my new roommate moved in my life has become so much more complicated and frustrating.

The craziest thing about it is that my roommate is my own brother! Three months ago my best friend and roommate of three years fell in love and moved away nearly halfway across the country. I was extremely happy for her, but I was equally as worried about being able to pay for rent. I was also stressed out to the maximum because it is very hard to find a roommate you can trust socially and financially. After scrambling around for awhile I was able to have my baby brother move in with me. We always got along when we were growing up, but at the time I had no idea how much he had changed. My brother has turned out to be a total slob! I can’t count how many times I have come home to find that he has left the air conditioning on high after leaving the house or left all of the lights on. I swear that our monthly heating and cooling bills are as expensive as corporate buildings! His habit of turning the air conditioning unit on such a high level has led to it breaking down for good. He promised me that he would call his buddy who is an HVAC repair tech to fix it up for free, but he has been saying that for two months. I still love my brother, however, I hope that he falls in love like my old roommate did and I can find a new roommate to live with.
