Working with a personal trainer provides motivation

This was extremely motivating

I was always chubby as a kid. The extra weight negatively affected my confidence, and I became very shy. Although I desperately wanted to take part in sports, I was afraid of being ridiculed and embarrassed. I had very few friends and never joined into social activities. As I got older, my issues with weight worsened and my doctor warned me of potential health problems. Unfortunately, I had no idea how to go about losing weight. I tried all sorts of fad diets but couldn’t stick with them. A coworker of mine recommended that I consult with a personal trainer. She said that the one-on-one attention had proved very beneficial for her. Since I was absolutely terrified of a gym setting with tons of people and strange equipment, I decided to give the personal trainer a call. He started with a whole series of questions, asking me all about my eating habits, concerns and both immediate and long-term goals. The process put me at ease and allowed me to ask questions. I had assumed we’d work out for a couple hours and he’d send me on my way. Instead, the personal trainer worked out both a meal plan and exercise plan for me to follow. Even on the days when we didn’t meet up, I had fitness tasks to complete. Every time we got together, he checked my weight, measurements and BMI. I needed to fill out a chart of my fitness accomplishments. This was extremely motivating. As I started to have success, I simply became more determined to do even better.
