My friend decided to surprise me with a cruise. I really thought she thought she was doing something nice. Had I known she was going to take me on a cruise, I would have said no, but it wasn’t known to me until I was going up the ramp. Once the seasickness took over, which only took an hour in the tiny cabin, they had to move us. We ended up in a small suite that overlooked the main deck. We had a lot of ventilation when we opened the patio door, but the air was humid and very warm. I tried to tell my friend that I really was grateful, but every time I opened my mouth, I started to throw up. The doctor gave me some medicine and I was able to at least get out of the room. The second day we were on the boat, I was feeling a bit better, and we decided to go out for breakfast. I was feeling queasy after eating, so I went back to the room. Unfortunately, the room was so hot that I felt even worse after a couple of minutes. The HVAC had quit running. I tried to adjust the thermostat, but nothing happened. I turned the thermostat up and I turned the thermostat off. I would have turned the thermostat into Cinderella if I thought it would work. I ended up calling the ship steward who sent a HVAC technician to the room. He told me that he had to get some parts and he wouldn’t be able to fix the HVAC unit until the next day.
