Wrapping up the house for winter

With a major ice storm heading our way, my fiance and I needed to wrap up our condo ASAP. We’re actually a little past time to get this done, but he and I are both super busy—we’re the worst workaholics really—so we’ve totally put it off until the last possible minute. He and I worked together to get everything ready to go. This meant wrapping up pipes, wrapping up the taps for the hoses, as well as closing up the AC completely. We have central air conditioning, which means we have a huge outdoor condenser that needs to be protected from severe weather. While the condenser looks like a big hulking beast, one large tree branch could crush it and destroy it entirely. Even a stray icicle could critically damage this outdoor AC condenser. This is why we take the time and care to make sure the AC system is shut off both at the device and on the circuit breaker in the basement. Once that’s done, the condenser is ready to be wrapped up. We use a special tarp that we bought especially for our model of AC unit. I’m pretty sure you can use any old tarp, but I like this one because it came with everything to keep it secure. My fiance and I work together to get the condenser covered as snug as it can be. The last thing we want is to come home to find the condenser cover blowing across the yard. The condenser cover will keep this part of the HVAC system safe from damage due to ice and snow, as well as icicles that could otherwise damage the blades. Now my fiance and I are winter ready!
